Sydney actors equity wanted half day stop work on 22 May 1956 to demand quota.  According to Tribune it was first ever stoppage

 In Aug 1956 Victoria Acqtors Equity voted for similar stoppage. This went to arbitration Sept 1956.  Another article and here. March 1957 rate was fixed.
