 Adaptation of the beloved radio play by Lucille Fletcher.

The play is a masterpiece.

Premise

The bed-ridden Mrs Stevenson hears on a telephone that her own murder is being plotted. She calls various people in a desperate attempt to get someone to believe her story.

Original play

The play by Lucille Fletcher was on Suspense radio show in 1943. (It was rare for the ABC to adapt an American play.)

Other adaptations

Sterling had performed in the play on radio in 1948.

It was filmed for US TV in 1946 and 1954.

It was filmed by the BBC in 1954. Filmed by Granada TV in 1957.

It was done on BBC radio in 1948 with Flora Robson.

Production

It was shot in Sydney. The set employed a circular bed.

Philip Albright adapted the script.

Ray Menmuir directed. Menmuir had only just finished directing Murder Story for the ABC.

 Reception

The Australian Woman's Weekly thought it was better than a later one man play done by the ABC, Box for One.
