The fourth and last of the Killer in Close Up series. All were written by George F. Kerr.
This one was shot in Sydney. It aired in Melbourne on 13 October.
It was based on the Madeleine Smith trial which was turned into a 1950 David Lean movie.
Premise
In 1857 Glasgow, Madeleine Smith is tried for the murder of her lover Emile. From the first meeting between the lovers to the final verdict in Edinburgh Court.

Other versions of the story
BBC radio did a version of the story in 1935 which included direct quotes from the trial. They did it in 1957.
The story was adapted for BBC TV in 1949 with Royston Morley directing so presumably he had a bit to say.

George F. Kerr narrated it was well as writing it.
