Phillip Grenville Mann (24 December 1921 – 19 June 1990)

He won a series of prizes as a young writer. 

Had play accepted by ABC when 14. 

1937 won a prize while at North Sydney high School see here.

He studied Arts at Sydney Uni until 1939. 

Served in the Royal Australian Navy for five years. Became officer. Promoted 1944 see here. Served on Wilcannia. 

Wrote radio play The Sea Between in Oct Nov 1945.

April 1946 his radio play The Seas Between won a 200 pound prize. Presented for Lux with Peter Finch starring. Review is here. Good article on Mann is here.  At time was doing post-grad course in teaching according to this piece here.
