Star Ed Devereaux had recently come back to Australia from England for a holiday then received an offer to appear in My Brother Jack. This led to They're a Weird Mob and he elected to star. (He had done The Harp in the South for the BBC in England.)
Designer Douglas Smith hired $3,500 worth of watches and clocks. It was reportedly Ed Devereaux's first comedy. He and Storry Walton had just made My Brother Jack.
Filming took place 24 July 1966 according to ABC records.
Reception
The Age
TV critic said the plot "was rather thin... yet the story had its
moments and a dialogue that sparked and entertained. It was even good
fun. I should rate it as one of the best in the series."
