Production
Ethel Turner's classic 1894 novel had been filmed (badly) in Australia in 1939. It was also adapted into a play.
In 1953 the ABC adapted it for radio. It would be filmed for Australian TV in 1953.

Apparently there were no Australians in it.
That year (1953) a radio version made in Australia aired. It was held as part of a Children's Session.
